Job Description and Duties

Position Overview:
The San Andreas Governor's Office of Emergency Services is seeking a motivated and skilled Social Media Outreach Specialist to join our dynamic team. As the Social Media Outreach Specialist, you will play a critical role in effectively communicating emergency information, disaster preparedness, and response efforts to the public through various social media platforms. You will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely dissemination of information during emergency situations.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to effectively communicate emergency information, safety guidelines, and disaster preparedness measures to the public.
  • Monitor and curate content related to emergency situations, disaster management, and public safety from reputable sources for sharing on official social media accounts.
  • Create engaging and informative social media content, including graphics, videos, infographics, and posts, tailored to different platforms and target audiences.
  • Manage and maintain the organization's social media accounts, responding promptly to comments, messages, and inquiries from the public while maintaining a professional and empathetic tone.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including emergency response personnel, public information officers, and communications experts, to ensure accurate and consistent messaging across all channels.
  • Stay up-to-date with current social media trends, best practices, and emerging platforms to continually optimize outreach efforts.
  • Coordinate live updates during emergency situations, crisis events, and disaster response efforts through social media channels.
  • Monitor and analyze social media metrics to assess the effectiveness of outreach campaigns, identify areas for improvement, and provide regular reports to management.
  • Act as a liaison between the public and emergency response teams, addressing concerns, providing accurate information, and relaying feedback from the community.
  • Assist in organizing and participating in public events, workshops, and educational sessions focused on disaster preparedness and community engagement.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of applying.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license within the State of San Andreas and have a meaning of self-transportation.
  • Must be familiar with general office procedures and possess exceptional customer service skills in a professional office setting.
  • Must have good attendance and be punctual and professional.
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a group or team setting.
  • Must maintain fluent communicative skills within the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Must not have been charged and prosecuted for any misdemeanors and/or felony crimes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Proven experience in social media management, preferably in a public service, emergency response, or crisis communications environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools and video editing software to create visually appealing content.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and respond rapidly to changing circumstances during emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of emergency management principles, disaster response procedures, and public safety communication strategies is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated understanding of crisis communication ethics and practices.
  • Flexibility to work outside of regular office hours when required, including weekends and holidays.

The San Andreas State Treasury designate a single salary schedule for all entry-level positions for the relevant position, GS-5 to GS-6 to provide delegated departments flexibility within an established salary cap, discretion to establish salaries above the approved levels.

Conditions of Employment

This is a full-time, permanent position. Employment in all positions is dependent upon the mutual consent of the San Andreas Governor’s Office of Emergency Services and the employee. This means that either SAN OES or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will with, or without, cause.
