Official Press Release
From the desk of Jennifer Clarkson:

For Immediate Release to the General Public:
Heroes Assistance Program Act of 2021 now Available for First Responders:

September 29th, 2021: Good news for first responders such as law enforcement and firefighters that are struggling with medical debt. Heroes Assistance Program applications are now up and running, ready to be processed so that you may receive financial aid for medical bills.

Last week, State Treasurer Sofia Moreno addressed the public at the capitol building on this issue. She was very excited to announce the program as she stated that law enforcement and firefighters often deal with a whole host of health issues stemming from the danger of their work or lifestyle adjustments they undergo for the job. Moreno and her office worked hand in hand with Pillbox Hill Medical Center. The two have produced an easy to use form that will be filled out by officers and firefighters that wish to apply to the program. If eligible, the first responder will receive a one time monetary grant of $30,000.00 to assist them medically.

Sofia Moreno closed her speech with a warm statement to first responders: "I wish to personally thank each and every one of the brave people who give their all, day and night, to protect the citizens of the State of San Andreas. Thank you for your service and God Bless America"

At this point of the press release the Office of Strategic Communications and Outreach(SCO) will provide the applicant with a brief outline of the Heroes Assistance Program and the application process.

There are several criteria that a first responder must meet in order to be eligible for the Heroes Assistance Program:
  1. Current diagnosis of cancer, organ complications, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), physical injuries or diagnosis of said conditions within the previous year prior to applying for the Heroes Assistance Program.
  2. First Responders must have completed their probationary period within the department they were employed.
  3. Terminated employees are not eligible, unless they were medically discharged.
  4. Employees need ten years worth of service.
  5. PHMC medical record is mandatory for processing of application.
Once eligibility has been approved the form is rather straightforward. The applicant will fill out section two with their personal information.
